Common urgent situations

Cracked or broken tooth

Rinse gently with warm water. Apply a cold compress outside the face if swelling is present and call the office.

Knocked-out permanent tooth

Handle it by the crown, not the root. If possible, keep it moist in milk and seek urgent professional care immediately.

Severe tooth pain or swelling

Call promptly. Do not place aspirin directly on the gum or tooth. Facial swelling with breathing or swallowing difficulty needs emergency medical care.
